The port facility was built from the years 1901 to 1908 with warehouse and cranes, contributed to the economic boom of Tempelhof and was with his huge storehouse of important freight hub for the industrial area of Tempelhof-East.
During the Second World War served as a warehouse for storage of larger quantities of food as well during the Berlin blockade the port served as a distribution station for goods of airlift.
