Schöneweide was famous for its huge industrial area in Treptow and the history of the district is closely linked to the history of the AEG whose settlement justified the development of Schoeneweide to an industrial and working-class district.
Now this area is not anymore a strong industrial one, but the maze of its yellow bricks buildings create a very fascinating landscape.
The "Kunst am Spreeknie" Schöneweide Art Festival, together with the curator John Power from G11 (which is inside the marvellous Funkhaus Nalepastraße) has decided to use some of these buildings to place their artworks. It's a good idea to spend some time there for both purposes: have a look at new art and finally going inside these huge and strong industrial buildings.
The festival is from 12th to 21th July.
