When you talk with people in Berlin about Cottbus, usually the reaction is of a miserable old style DDR-concrete city. But this is very far from being true and although we've visited it in a cloudy day, it has been a nice trip. The center of the new life of the city is the university and of course of the new tower library by Herzog & de Meuron and the city is full of artworks from DDR, but the atmosphere is young and relaxed.
This collection is centered mainly on the DDR period, but you can have a look at the Herzog & de Meuron Library for something contemporary.
